Drinking beetroot juice increases blood flow to the brain in older people, according to a new study suggesting that red-black vegetables can help fight dementia.

The beetroot contains a large concentration of nitrates, which, with the help of bacteria in the mouth, turn into nitrites. Nitrites help spread the blood vessels in the body, resulting in increased blood and oxygen flow in those places where it is missing.
